Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Matthew 6:21

God Owns It All

Everything we have belongs to God. He is the true owner, and we are stewards of His gifts (Psalm 24:1; James 1:17). Generosity begins with the recognition that our resources, time, and talents are entrusted to us for His purposes.

God word says without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  We believe fully that God rewards those who seeks Him in whatever they seek him in. Our faith in him as it pertains to our money is no different.  We can live a rewarded life or an unrewarding life.

The Gospel Motivates Us

Our giving flows out of what Jesus has done for us. 'Though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich' (2 Corinthians 8:9). We give in response to His sacrifice, not to earn His favor.

Giving Is Worship

Every act of generosity is an act of worship. Giving reminds us that our treasure is not here on earth but in Christ and His kingdom (Matthew 6:19–21; Philippians 4:18). Giving, of course, is what God uses to run His Church, but we believe that giving is an act of spiritual worship not monetary duty.  Combined with your faith, your giving is a message to God that you trust Him. Your generosity is not a “gift” to the church but instead a gift to God.  Looking at it as anything else takes it from an act of worship to a moment of philanthropy (Matthew 6:2)

The Posture of Our Giving

We give with open hands: Giving is an act of obedience and submission.  Money can make us feel in control and almost as if we are our own God.  When God asks for your best, you must decide to give Him Lordship.  We believe that decision is our spiritual act of worship.

Generosity Fuels Mission

God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, so He doesn’t “need” your money.  Instead, He invites you to worship Him through financial sacrifice.  Sacrifice that He uses to fuel the ministries here at NorthRoad.  We believe He uses kingdom business for your good and the good of others. When you have real skin in the game you feel like you are the hands and feet of the church.  God using sacrifice and ministry to bring us closer to Him. Every dollar given at NorthRoad fuels disciple-making, supports families, serves our community, and sends the gospel to the nations. Our giving is not just about sustaining a church — it’s about advancing God’s kingdom.

Eternal Perspective

We give because we believe eternal rewards outweigh temporary gain. 'Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven' (Matthew 6:20). Generosity is an investment in people, mission, and eternity.

  • Cheerfully — with joy, not compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7).
  • Regularly — intentionally and consistently (1 Corinthians 16:2).
  • Proportionally — in accordance with how God has provided (2 Corinthians 8:12).
  • Sacrificially — willing to stretch beyond comfort (Mark 12:41–44).
  • Generously — sowing abundantly in trust that God will multiply (2 Corinthians 9:6).
